Worth knowing before you start

My work comes by word of mouth. Why would I want a website?
Because word of mouth now goes through the phone. Someone recommends you, that person searches for your name and, if they find nothing, they hesitate. The website seals the recommendation and also introduces you to people who don't know you yet.
Isn't social media enough?
Social media is for people to follow you; a website is for people to find you. A "workshop in your town" is searched for on Google, and on social media your opening hours and address get lost among the posts. What works best is having both: the website as a fixed place with all the information, and social media for day-to-day news.
How much does it cost?
A business website starts at €490 + VAT, in a single payment and with the price fixed in writing before we start. The domain is registered in your name and you pay the registrar directly (about €12 a year); hosting the website costs €0. If you would like Novantrek to monitor it and keep it up to date, Web Cuidada costs €9/month + VAT, or €25/month + VAT with up to one hour of changes a month.
How long before it shows on Google?
When people search for your name, usually a few days. For "your service + your town", it normally takes two to four months, depending on the competition in your area. What shows first is the Google Business Profile: it usually appears within a couple of weeks.
Do I have to show prices?
It helps more than you might think: someone who only calls to ask the price and hangs up has cost you a phone call. The usual approach is to price the standard jobs and put "from" or "on request" on work that varies. That way the customers who contact you already know what it costs.
